The cause of the baby's Flat head syndrome

Supine sleep in infants is very useful for preventive SIDS, but if your baby is too long in the supine sleeping position will result in the occurrence of an abnormality in the shape of his head, called Flat head syndrome, or better known as the head peyang.

Head peyang not only can happen on the back of the head only, but also the side of the baby's head. This is usually caused by a baby for too long in the position of head tilt to the left or right only during sleep.

In addition to sleeping position, head peyang in infants is also due to several causes, namely:

Craniosynostosis, which is a medical condition where the formation of bone in the baby's head
skull formed prematurely. This causes the occurrence of abnormalities in the form of the skull bones. The most severe peyang caused by craniosynostosis can cause stress on your baby's brain so that should be addressed.
Sleep on your back, though good for preventing SIDS, sleep supine conducted continuously can cause changes in the baby's head shape. For that frequently do tummy time when your baby wakes up, to reduce the frequency of your baby sleep on their backs. More on baby's head
